Edgar Cayce
Edgar Cayce (1877-1945)
Edgar Cayce, also known as the “Sleeping Prophet,” was an American psychic and healer born on March 18, 1877, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. He was able to enter a deep trance state and give detailed and accurate information on a wide range of subjects, including health, spirituality, past lives, and the future. Cayce’s life and work have left a profound impact on the fields of metaphysics, spirituality, and alternative medicine.
Edgar Cayce grew up in a devout Christian family, and from an early age, he displayed psychic abilities. His first documented experience with psychic phenomena occurred when he was just a child. At the age of seven, he said he saw his deceased grandfather and began seeing other visions.
Psychic Abilities:
Cayce’s psychic abilities became more pronounced as he grew older. In 1898, he started his career as a photographer but soon developed severe laryngitis, which led to the loss of his voice. Traditional medical treatments didn’t work, and out of desperation, Cayce turned to a hypnotist, Al Layne, for help. Under hypnosis, Cayce not only regained his voice but also exhibited the ability to diagnose and prescribe treatments for others.
This marked the beginning of Cayce’s career as a psychic healer. He gained a reputation for providing accurate and helpful health readings while in a trance state. During these sessions, Cayce said he had access to a universal consciousness we call the Akashic Records which contains information about every soul’s journey through space and time.
In 1931, Cayce founded the Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE) in Virginia Beach, Virginia to explore the information revealed in his readings. The ARE provides a platform for individuals to study Cayce’s teachings, promote research in metaphysics, and explore topics such as holistic health, spirituality, and ancient mysteries.
Cayce’s health readings were among his most well-known contributions. I describe them as alternative medicine readings. He would diagnose a person, often providing detailed information about their medical conditions and suggesting holistic treatments. Cayce emphasized the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit, promoting a holistic approach to health. He often recommended dietary changes, herbal remedies, and lifestyle adjustments. which are still effective today.
His readings often incorporated concepts from various religious traditions, suggesting a universal perspective on spirituality.
Reincarnation and Past Lives:
A central theme in Cayce’s readings was the concept of reincarnation. He believed in the idea that individuals have lived multiple lifetimes and that their present circumstances are influenced by past actions. Cayce’s readings often included information about individuals’ past lives, providing insights into current challenges and relationships.
Cayce’s perspective on reincarnation and karma was rooted in a spiritual worldview that emphasized personal responsibility and growth over multiple lifetimes. He suggested that understanding past lives could offer valuable insights into one’s present circumstances and help individuals overcome challenges.
Holistic Health and Spirituality:
Edgar Cayce left a lasting legacy, with the ARE continuing to operate as a center for research, education, and exploration of metaphysical topics. Many individuals credit Cayce with providing valuable guidance and insights that have positively impacted their lives.
Cayce’s influence on the exploration of holistic health and spirituality is important. His teachings have inspired others to explore alternative perspectives on health, consciousness, and the nature of reality.
Edgar Cayce’s life and work continue to fascinate and inspire people around the world. Whether viewed as a gifted psychic, a mystic, or a spiritual teacher, Cayce’s impact worldwide is profound. His legacy lives on through the ongoing work of the Association for Research and Enlightenment, as well as the countless individuals who have found guidance and healing through his readings.
The Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) was founded by Edgar Cayce in 1931 to research and explore subjects such as holistic health, ancient mysteries, personal spirituality, dreams, intuition, and reincarnation. A.R.E.’s mission is to help people change their lives for the better through the ideas and information found in his readings.
